Missouri Legislation: Horse Slaughter Info & “Tidbits”, May 12, 2010

Posted by Texas Mustang Project on May 12, 2010

I can’t even comment on this… I will just give you guys the links…

MO State Representative Jim Viebrock’s Legislative Website, “Missouri First has a scrolling quote at the top of the page: “If we value the pursuit of knowledge we must be free to follow where ever that search may lead us.”

Again, I can’t even comment on this at this moment.

Jim Viebrock is the 134th District Missouri State Representative – he introduced the The Horse Processing Bill (HB 1747, SB795) that is now the very sore subject of many debates in the horse slaughter issue. Contrary to what most of us were led to believe recently, this bill is not “dead”, rather it is very much alive and moving forward.

Other “Issues” listed by Mr. Viebrock include:

Under the heading “Reports to the Peopleare the 95th General Assembly 2010 Weekly Reports.

And under the heading “Press Releases”, the following links are posted:

And finally, under the heading of “Old Glory”, Mr. Viebrock makes some very passionate statements such as, “I feel there is a responsibility to restore American beliefs to our government and our society.”

HAS THIS ALREADY BEEN POSTED? FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO CALL THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OR SEND THEM SLAUGHTER INFORMATION–IT SURE WOULDN’T MAKE THEIR STATE LOOK GOOD. WONDER WHAT HARRY TRUMAN WOULD SAY. DIDN’T HE SAY “THE BUCK STOPS HERE?”.

Contact Missouri’s Governor Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon. Here is more contact info for the governor:

I wrote the Gov a couple of days ago. I told him right off the bat that I wasn’t a Missouri resident, but that I WAS a prospective tourist. Past tense. I told him that I hadn’t even been aware of the boycott page on Facebook until one of his “best and brightest legislators” said to “go ahead and boycott Missouri. We won’t miss you.” I said I was offended and, as a pro-horse advocate, I felt I’d been uninvited to Missouri. I felt many others would feel the same way.

I went into great detail about the new EU rules and about how NO American horse could be considered safe for humans to eat. And, that by 2013 Canada has said they will require a “passport” system like the one in the EU for any horse presented for slaughter. Since America does not have such a system, Missouri would have to implement one on it’s own for the few people who would be interested in having their horse in such a program because those would be the only ones acceptable for export.

I also told him to have a nice day. :o)

One thing for certain Representative Viebrock should be voted out of office in November. As someone borned and raised in Missouri the actions of this man is a complete embarrassment. He must have very wealthy interest overseas and be desperate to slip one bill behind another in order to get it approved. We don’t want Slaughterhouses in Missouri —- WE LOVE OUR HORSES AND WHEN THEY GET TO SICK AND OLD WE WILL QUIETLY PUT THEM TO SLEEP.

I thought RTs blog reported it DEAD!

    • It did, but it wasn’t the first time it was reported to be dead, just slipped into another bill – kinda like pulling a “Conrad Burns”. Now – again, supposedly- its dead, again. I hope and pray that this report is real.

I THINK WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO KEEP ON THE ALERT AT ALL TIMES, AS WE HAVE SEEN.

I agree, but I also think that the overwhelming anti slaughter sentiments that have been expressed to ALL 4 states that had proposed this, was really surprising to these politicians. I really think government thinks we are all asleep and not paying very much attention. THEY ARE REALLY WRONG AND ARE FINDING THAT OUT!

JAN, I REMEMBER SOMEONE SAYING THAT THIS IS THE WAY IT WORKS: YOU GET THE PARADE GOING AND WHEN THE POLITICIANS SEE WHICH WAY IT IS GOING, THEY JUMP IN FRONT OF OF IT AND HELP WAVE THE BANNER.

I ALSO SEE SOMETHING IN COLORADO THAT NEEDS TO BE WATCHED.
